Materials and Specifications for the Crochet AirPods Case Pattern

Tools: Crochet hook 4.5 mm* (for the double stranded version) or 3.0 mm* (for the granny square version), a threading needle and a progress keeper (a stitch marker).
Yarns: The crochet AirPods case patterns use Novita Cotton Feel in colors off white (010) and atlantic (354) OR Schachenmayr Catania* in colors koralle (410) and neon pink (444). One 50 g ball of both colors.
Substitute Yarns (remember to check the gauge): Other DK or sport weight cotton yarns, e.g.: Drops Safran*, Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton DK*, Scheepjes Stone washed*, Scheepjes River washed* and Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK*.

Crochet AirPods Case Patterns (2 Versions)

This post includes two different crochet AirPods case patterns. The first crochet AirPods case pattern is the double-stranded version and the second one is the granny square version. Below you can click directly to the pattern without having to scroll down!

Crochet AirPods Case Pattern (Double-Stranded Version)

This colorful crochet AirPods case pattern uses a double-stranded crochet technique. Simply, crochet with two yarn strands of (different) colors at the same time. You can either insert “V” or “X” shaped single crochet stitches, that’s up to you! This crochet AirPods case pattern uses “X” (cross) shaped single crochet stitches.

Instructions for the X-shape (cross) single crochet stitch: insert your hook through the stitch/loop, yarn under (place your hook over the yarn), pull yarn through, yarn over, pull yarn through the two loops on your hook.

Base and round 1: Chain 8. Starting from the second chain from the hook, insert 6 single crochet stitches (sc). Insert 3 sc to the next chain stitch (last chain stitch). Continue inserting 5 sc to the other side of the chain (work in the round). Then insert 2 sc to the next chain stitch. You have 16 sc stitches in the round.

Rounds 2-12: Insert 16 sc. Place a progress keeper (a stitch marker) to the first stitch after starting a new round to indicate the starting point of a new round.

Round 13: Insert 16 slip stitches. Finish the round by inserting another slip stitch. Cut the yarn and weave in the ends.

Granny Square AirPods Case Pattern

Crochet three rounds of a basic granny square. Check out this simple granny square pattern from my other free granny square pattern page and make two granny squares according to the instructions but with two exceptions. Make only three rounds and chain only one (1) in the corners.

Place the granny squares on top of each other and join them together by inserting sc stitches around. Start at the end of one side by inserting one slip stitch and one single crochet stitch. Then insert only single crochet stitches for the next three sides. Now, you’ve reached the same side where you started, insert 1 sc and 1 slip stitch.

You should have 5 stitches that are not joined in both of the granny squares. This is the opening of the granny square AirPods case. Weave in the ends.
