Crochet Bandana Pattern

Crochet Square Pattern
Crochet 10 crochet squares according to the following instructions.
Round 1. Start with malva color yarn. Make a magic ring and chain 3 (counts as one double crochet stitch (dc)). Insert 11 dc stitches so that you include the tail end of the yarn to the ring. Close the round with a slip stitch (sl st) to the 3-ch stitch. Pull the tail end tightly so there’s no hole in the middle of the round. Cut the yarn.
Round 2. Change to heat color yarn. Insert a sl st to the space between two dc stitches of the previous round (make sure to insert it to the space and not through the stitch as you would usually do). Chain 1 (ch) and pull yarn a little bit. *Yarn over, insert a hook into this space and pull yarn through* and repeat * 3 more times. You now have 9 loops on your hook. Pull yarn through all of them and ch 2. This counts as the first puff stitch.
Insert 11 more puff stitches according to the following instructions:
A puff stitch: *Yarn over, insert a hook into the space between next dc stitches and pull yarn through* and repeat * 3 more times. You now have 9 loops on your hook. Pull yarn through all of them and ch 2.
After the last puff stitch, close the round with a sl st to the top of the first puff stitch. Cut the yarn.
Round 3. Change to off white color yarn. Insert a sl st to the chain between two puff stitches. Ch 3 (this counts as the first dc stitch). Insert 2 dc to the same chain between the puff stitches.
Then, make a 3-dc-shell: insert 3 dc to the chain between next puff stitches.
You’ve now come to the first corner. Make a 3-treble crochet-shell (3-tr-shell) to the chain between next puff stitches. Ch 2 and insert another 3-tr-shell to the same chain.
*Insert two 3-dc-shells. You’ve now come to the next corner. 3-tr-shell, ch 2, 3-tr-shell.* Repeat * 2 more times. Close the round with a sl st to the 3-ch stitch. Cut the yarn and weave in the ends.
Crochet Triangle Pattern
Crochet 5 crochet triangles according to the following instructions.
Row 1. Start with malva color yarn. Make a magic ring and chain 3 (counts as one double crochet stitch (dc)). Insert 6 dc stitches so that you include the tail end of the yarn to the ring. You will form a half circle. Pull the tail end tightly so there’s no hole in the middle of the half circle. Cut the yarn.
Row 2. Change to heat color yarn. Start from the same side where you started the first row. Insert your hook to the space between two dc stitches of the previous round (make sure to insert it to the space and not through the stitch as you would usually do). Chain 1 (ch) and pull yarn a little bit. *Yarn over, insert a hook into this space and pull yarn through* and repeat * 3 more times. You now have 9 loops on your hook. Pull yarn through all of them and ch 2. This counts as the first puff stitch.
Insert 5 more puff stitches according to the puff stitch instructions in the crochet square pattern earlier. Exception: In the last puff stitch, chain only 1 (not 2). Cut the yarn.
Row 3. Change to off white color yarn. Start from the same side where you started the first and the second rows. Insert your hook right on top of the first puff stitch. Ch 4 (this counts as the first tr stitch). Insert 2 tr stitches to the same place on top of the puff stitch.
Make two 3-dc-shells and insert them to the chains between puff stitches.
You’ve now come to the top corner. Insert 3-tr-shell, ch 2, 3-tr-shell to the chain between next puff stitches.
Insert two 3-dc-shells. You’ve now come to the last corner of the crochet triangle. Insert a 3-tr-shell to the top of the last puff stitch. Cut the yarn and weave in the ends.
Join the Crochet Squares and Triangles
To assemble the crochet squares and triangles into the crochet bandana, place them right side up as shown in the photo below. Join the squares and triangles together using a flat slip stitch method (video tutorial). The arrows in the same photo represent the joining directions.

Crochet Bandana’s Edges and Ties
Edges and ties of the crochet bandana are crocheted at the same time in the round with off white yarn. You will first crochet the left tie, then finalize the left and right sides of the crochet bandana and then the right tie. After that, you crochet the base side of the bandana. Note: the ties are only chains first but they are finalized in the end of the round.

Ch 42. Join the chain to the left corner of the crochet bandana. Start inserting crab stitches (reverse single crochet stitches) along the left side of the crochet bandana.
You’ve now come to the top corner of the bandana. Insert one crab stitch to the chain between two 3-tr-shells of the crochet square. Move on to the right side of the bandana and insert crab stitches along the right side.
Crochet another tie chain: Ch 42. Cut the yarn.
Join the off white yarn to the start of the left tie chain. Insert half double crochet stitches (hdc) along the tie chain (40 hdc). Then continue inserting hdc stitches along the base side. You will insert these hdc stitches to the first and last stitches of each row of the triangles: insert 3 hdc to the tr stitches, 2 hdc to the dc stitches and 1 hdc to the magic ring. Also, insert 2 hdc to the first loop of the puff stitch, 1 hdc on top of the puff stitch and 6 hdc to the space between each triangle. See how the hdc stitches are placed more closely in the photo below. Then insert 40 hdc stitches along the right tie chain. Cut the yarn and weave in all the ends.
