The shrug consists of four (4) rectangle panels. Front and back panels are crocheted using the same instructions. Make two sleeves according to the crochet sleeves instructions.

Seaming and Construction of the Shrug

Front and Back Panels (Body Panels)
Front and back panels are crocheted separately as flat rectangle panels. The same instructions apply to both panels so you will make two identical panels. A partial crochet chart for the front/back panel is available in the paid pattern. That crochet chart applies to the sleeves as well.
Foundation row: Chain (ch) 58. This is for the size XS.
Row 1. Insert a double crochet stitch (dc) to the 17th chain stitch from the hook.
Ch 1 and insert 1 dc to the same stitch as the first dc stitch.
Ch 6, *skip 7 ch stitches and insert 1 dc to the 8th ch stitch from the last dc stitch. Ch 1 and insert 1 dc to the same ch stitch as the previous dc. Ch 6.*
Repeat * until there are 8 ch stitches left and insert 1 dc to the last ch stitch.
Row 2. Ch 9 and turn the work (ch9tw).
*Insert a 2-dc-shell (1 dc, 1 ch, 1 dc) to the 2-dc-shell of the previous row. Ch 6.*
Repeat * to the end of the row and insert 1 dc to the 7th ch stitch of the previous row.
Rows 3-8. Repeat the row 2.

Crochet Sleeves
The sleeve is crocheted as a flat rectangle panel. Make two sleeves according to the same instructions.
Foundation row: Ch 98.
Row 1. Repeat the row 1 of the body panel instruction.
Row 2. Repeat the row 2 of the body panel instruction.
Rows 3-20. Repeat the row 2 of the body panel instruction.
Proceed to the seaming and construction part next.
Seaming and Construction of the Shrug
See more detailed seaming and construction instructions in the photo shown later in this pattern. Remember to seam all the panels and sleeves together so that all the seams face to the same direction. After seaming, turn the shrug right side out.
Shoulder Seams
Place the front and back panels on top of each other. Seam the shoulders along the chain rows of both panels using single crochet stitches (sc). Seam the distance of 7 cm (2.8″) in both shoulders. If the neckline is too tight or too loose, make changes to the distance accordingly.
Seaming of the Sleeves and Body Panels Together
Place the body panels and the sleeve panels as shown in the construction photo below. Using stitch markers, align the center of the sleeve panel with the shoulder seam.

Using sc stitches, seam the sleeve panel to the body panels (before seaming the sleeve itself) as instructed in the photo (pink lines). Align the rows of the body panels and sleeve panels with each other. Insert 2 sc between the rows and 1 sc to the row. Repeat with the other sleeve.
Sleeve Seams
Fold the sleeve panel in half lengthwise (longer panel sides are seamed together). Join the long sides together with sc stitches. Insert 6 sc to seam the long chains together. Then, insert 1 sc to seam the 2-dc-shells together. Continue this pattern to the end of the sleeve. Repeat with the other sleeve.
Weave in the ends. Turn the shrug right side out.
Enjoy your cool crochet shrug!
